About Me & My Approach to Real Estate

My name is Catherine Swift, and I’m a full-time Realtor® that services the greater Ottawa area. From city homes to country estates and everything in between, I know the Ottawa real estate market inside and out. I love providing my clients with attentive, caring service while I use creative and modern solutions to help them achieve their Ottawa real estate ambitions.

A Brief Background on Catherine Swift

While I’m originally from Toronto, I moved to Ottawa over 25 years ago for a full lifestyle change. Ever since then, I’ve been in love with all of Ottawa’s unique communities and especially appreciate the natural beauty Ottawa has to offer.

I’ve been a full-time Realtor® here since 2005, following my 20-year career as a private consultant for Canada’s provincial and federal governments. I studied French language and literature at the University of Toronto and l’université de Montréal, primarily because of my love of the language and culture, but it has also stood me in good stead while working for the government and in my day-to-day Realtor® life. I’m fluent in both English and French and hold an E/E/E French language level — the highest French-language rating from the federal government.

After leaving the federal government and fuelled by my volunteer work, I knew I wanted to work closely with the many wonderful communities in Ottawa. I was guided towards a career in real estate because of my love for all things construction, renovation, and remodelling, as well as my deep knowledge of the local communities.

In fact, I have established a reputation for myself within the Ottawa real estate community for my knowledge of home systems and construction and am pretty handy around the house myself. You might be surprised by what I have in my purse!

What I love most about what I do is the unpredictability of the job — no two days are alike for me, which is why I’m always trying to expand my knowledge and skillset and improve my real estate practices.

Away From Work

When I’m not helping clients or working on my business, I like spending time outdoors, enjoying Ottawa’s beautiful natural landscapes and digging in the dirt. I’m an avid gardener and find my garden is my happy place. It’s no coincidence I do my best thinking on my lawn tractor.

I also enjoy helping my husband tinker with our two British sports cars, including a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II and a 1969 TVR Vixen. I’m always on the hunt for my dream car, a 1970 Volvo P1800 — white with red leather interior, please!

Of course, nothing gives me more pleasure than spending time with my family and extended family — but especially the five little ones who are so important to me and who bring so much joy to my life.
